So I really hope a custom designed manned turret doesn't become worthless. Having a human in the turret picking out what is a bigger treat to the ship will make a big difference in a big multiplayer battle where things could be total chaos. Just be shooting at what ever is closest. With all those guns focused onto one target you would kill it much quicker than a few automated turrets that could People put like 4,6,8,+ guns onto 1 turret. Also with some of the designs I have seen with the manned turrets. The small ship blocks are about 2 feet thick, why are they so weak? :confused: Having a layer of blocks around a manned turret should my it a lot tougher than the small automated turrets. See details about why I think they are OP here -> My thoughts on warheads and rockets But also I think the small ship blocks are a little too weak and it should take guns just a few more hits than it does now to break them. The rockets on the other hand are ridiculously OP, as I said in one of my other replies to a post. The large ship turrets don't seem like they would be all that well armored and could be easily shoot by fighters maybe taking out with only 6-10 bullets from a small ships guns. This way they could help defend against torpedoes loaded with warheads that enemies could send sailing though space at your ship. The automated turrets should be mainly used as a point defense system that shoots at any small fighters and other incoming objects that are not identified by an IFF system as a friendly targets. This is however, just MY sole opinion, everyone welcome to agree or disagree.I think because the game is called Space "Engineers" any well designed manned turret should be far better than any automated turret that anyone can just slap onto a ship. That being said, I hope missiles will take some influence from torps as custom missiles and missile launchers would be really fun as well. When its finished its still going to stand on par with games like FTD and Starmade. Give the dev time, if Avorion takes 4 months or 4 years I could care less. I see a lot of threads about balance being all over the place and to that I'd like to say something very simply. I enjoy the idea of torpedoes, things you can use to take an advantage or even play to a handicap. Looking forward to seeing how this conversation goes! Second question, whats your opinion on torps? I'm not asking balance wise, I mean in the sense that, would you consider them new and exciting weapons? Or are they something that isn't really up to your interest? I also wonder about the scaling of turrets and if that will play a vital role in said designs. Are you going to make custom turrets once the combat 2 update drops? I ask this out of wonder as to what kind of amazing things people will craft as I know this community has a VERY large amount of great ship builders in it. However, here's my question, which is open to everyone of course. So, I've read about the combat 1 and 2 updates and found myself SUPER excited about it, even now I've drilled another 9 hours into the game with my fanboyish energy level to get myself to a level to which I can (hopefully) have some fun with torpedoes on my own once the update hits.
